McNair1The sad story of Steve McNair’s death over the weekend was made even worse by the fact that it looks like his lover did it. McNair was shot four times, twice to the head, and the woman, 20 year old Sahel Kazemi, was shot once to the head. The gun was found under her body, and there was no sign of forced entry. Nashville police say they are not actively seeking suspects.

McNair was married with four children, but had apparently been dating this woman for months.

I read a post over at Every Day Should be Saturday, an inspiration of mine to start my own blog, which condemns McNair’s former teammate, Eddie George, for some of George’s words on how he remembers McNair.

Eddie George said of McNair, “I will remember Steve’s smile, his laugh, his ability to cook — the man could cook — and just the human being that he was.”

The guys over at EDSBS wrote, ‘The most haunting thing for us about the death of the country-strong, square-headed, and seemingly indestructible quarterback is teamate Eddie George’s memory of him.”

They follow that up with the George quote, and then finish up with the following tongue-in-cheek dialogue.

“Something about this is particularly affecting: that like his play on the field, his interactions with friends and family involved something as concrete as making food for them. If you’ve lost someone in life like this, their memory is hard to shake; it comes back with a smell, or a taste, or the sound of a clatter in the kitchen that the living may never completely disassociate from the memory of the departed. For those who enjoyed a meal with McNair up close and personal–or for those who watched him play a tough and brilliant brand of football from a distance–that seems to be a memory they are happy not to shake too quickly. RIP, Hoss; you didn’t deserve this.”

Readers of my blog know how much food means to me. I post recipes from time to time. I also LOVE to cook and entertain for family and friends. I personally would take it as the biggest compliment in the world for people to say that’s what they remember of me.

I played college football, started and ran my own business for 12 years, and have done a lot of things to be proud of in life, but besides my wife and child, there is really only one thing that I have a true passion for, and that is cooking.

So check out EDSBS.com for a lot of other good stuff, but leave the food to me. These guys probably think that TGI Fridays is a fine eating establishment.

Here is a link to one of the funniest things I’ve ever read on the internet, and it’s from EDSBS. It’s titled 52 Reasons ESPN/ABC/Disney Suck. I couldn’t agree more with any of the article. ESPN really started sucking when they stopped doing sports and went into info-tainment mode. ABC Family had a show on the other day that I ran into while channel surfing that dealt with teen pregnancy, and the Disney franchise is, well, the devil. But I digress.

Keep up the good work EDSBS, but leave the cooking to us pros!!!

Here’s a very good tribute to the man, with an extra yard, would have been a Super Bowl champion.

RIP Steve McNair-
